Wheel N Come Again is an amazing exhibition, one that touches the soul and captivates the heart. Featuring video, installation and painting, this show features eight, black women artists, who have created new works in response to the films that are being presented at film screenings across Brighton and Hastings. These films, both short and feature length are from the African and Caribbean diaspora.
Everything in this show is enlightening to myself a a white female. I am able to view parts of a culture that I admittedly know little about, it's for this reason I am not saying too much. It feels rude to place my white-ideas on black-works. It feels backward to discuss these works as 'works from black artists' or 'work from women artists', as we never say 'work by white artists' or 'work by male artists'. But I mentioned this before when I spoke about Champagne Life at the Saatchi Gallery. For now, I leave you with photographs, and links.
